The Make-Up Room Project

I am on a mission. I plan to redo the whole house! (Well, sort of… a room or two rooms at a time). With so many things going on inside my head – my blog, the coming holidays, inviting famiy and friends over, and all the renovations the hubs and I are planning to do starting this summer, I figured I have to start small (and just “start” – period).  It could be overwhelming and that’s one thing I don’t want to happen because I would just lose all the energy and stop dead on the tracks.

So you’re going to see a lot of these on my blog as I take you on a go-see of the improvements we would do. But I don’t want to break the bank – we still have travels we want to do, too. Thus, it’s rehashing old furnitures stored in the basement or found at Goodwill or Savers and FB marketplace.  A lot of DIYs, a lot of surprising results.

I will restrain from doing repaintings, as much as I could. We just did that about 4 years ago and the room colors are still what I want them to be. But I want the house to look guest-ready,

We start with this room.

The ex-green room.

This room has so much history. It was a room for a lot of people who stayed in this house. At one point it was even painted “ugly” green with grapes stenciled on the wall with a “much uglier” christmas green carpet.  It wasn’t a surprise that it was called the “green room”.  Thank God, the hubs and I finally decided enough is enough and we took out the green carpet and colored the wall what it is now.  But for some reason, we still call it the “green room”.  Old habits are hard to break.

So I plan to redo this room and make it a make-up/guest room. I have great plans with my blog and turning this into a “vanity room” would really work. Nothing intrusive as far as serving as a guest room either. That would be the challenge. Exciting times ahead.

Any tips on how I should do the room?

Hmmmm… not a bad idea. What do you think?

  • Make sure to document from planning to completion here on your blog and other platforms too. Take it as a “Filip the room” or “room makeover” project 🙂 It would be nice to see this project on Pinterest. I can’t wait to see the transformation.
